Tire Water Injection Enhances Antifreeze Performance
02.28.2026

In certain situations, tire ballasting is required to boost traction for tractors, and tire water filling serves as a simple and cost-effective solution. Water can be filled to 75% of the tire’s internal volume, with a recommended 50% fill level for radial tires. For cold regions, an appropriate amount of antifreeze must be added to the water to prevent freezing and subsequent tire damage.

Reduced air volume post water filling impairs tire shock absorption and compromises ride comfort. After filling, avoid operating the tires at ultra-low pressure, high-speed travel, and application with inflation/deflation systems.

For freeze protection, blend calcium chloride into the water and stir until fully dissolved. Apply anti-corrosion treatment to the wheel rims prior to use. The dosage of calcium chloride is as follows: add 200 g per 100 L of water at -10°C (14°F), 300 g per 100 L at -20°C (-4°F), and 400 g per 100 L at -30°C (-22°F).
